This year we will experience Oktoberfest through two very different festivals – the Oktoberfest in Munich and the Cannstatter Volksfest in Stuttgart. We will take a break between the two festivals and explore Bamberg, one of the most beautiful and friendly towns in Franconia, where we will visit many of the breweries in and around the area.

We begin our trip in Munich where we celebrate the world's largest and most recognized beer festival – Oktoberfest. For 3 days we will visit and experience the beer tents of Oktoberfest as well as breweries and beer halls of Munich. From Munich it's off to Bamberg for where we will spend 2 days exploring the breweries and sights of this historic town. We end this tour in Stuttgart where we will enjoy another festival, the Cannstatter Volksfest. This festival is quite a bit different than the Munich version of Oktoberfest in that it is more family oriented. But don't worry, there will be plenty of beer and schweinshauxe there.

Space for this trip is limited to twelve (12) people

Day 1

We meet in the morning at our host hotel. From there it is a short walk to the Oktoberfest Village where we dive right in and spend the afternoon at our table in our first beer tent. We will enjoy lunch and several complementary beers before heading out to explore the village on our own. (L, D)

Day 2

We wake and enjoy a nice breakfast at our hotel. Afterwards, we take a short train ride to the town of Aying where we visit and tour the Ayinger brewery. This brewery produces some wonderful beer including a special Oktoberfest beer. We return to Munich to spend the afternoon and have lunch on our own while exploring the tents of Oktoberfest. We meet in the hotel lobby at 19:00 and spend the evening visiting several of the beer gardens of Munich. (B, D)

Day 3

Today we will visit the Andechs Monastery where we will enjoy lunch and a selection of their beer. The monastery is located on top of a hill and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside.  We will have a tour of the brewery and have time to explore the grounds before returning to Munich. The evening is free to bid a final farewell to Munich. But don't stay out too late as we have an early train to catch in the morning. (B, L)

Day 4

Today we move on to Bamberg, a beautiful, medieval city located in Northern Bavaria. Our train trip will take almost 3 hours, giving us time to relax and enjoy the scenery. Upon arriving in Bamberg, we will drop our luggage at our hotel and take a short walk to Weyermann Malt, the world leader in specialty brewing malts. Here, we will tour their facility and learn about one of the main components in beer – malted grains. At the end of the tour, we will enjoy a beer tasting at Weyermann’s own brewery.  From here it’s off to Brauerei Schlenkerla for a taste of our first “Rauchbier” or smoked beer. We will have lunch before heading out to visit several breweries. We meet at the hotel at 19:00 for dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 5

We enjoy a nice breakfast after which we spend the morning taking a private walking tour of the city and learning about its rich history.  Following our tour, we will enjoy lunch at Brauerei Ambräusianum and have tour of their brewery and tasting of an assortment of their beer. The afternoon is free to explore the city.  We will meet again in the hotel lobby at 19:00 and go to dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 6

Today we rise early and board the train to Stuttgart. Upon arrival, we will check into our hotel before heading to our first brewery for a tasting and lunch. Afterward, we will travel to the Cannstatter Volksfest. Our afternoon is free to explore the festival before meeting for dinner in one of the beer tents. (B, L, D)

Day 7

We rise early and have a nice breakfast before heading to the famous Mercedes-Benz Museum and learn about the history of the automobile manufacturer. Following our tour, we will spend the rest of the day exploring the activities and events of the festival.  We will meet in the lobby of the hotel at 19:00 before heading to a small brewery for dinner. (B, D)

Day 8

Today we say our goodbyes and head home or to wherever our next adventure takes us. (B)
